A delightful obsession
Ever since it’s earliest recorded use in the 3rd century AD, we’ve craved it, obsessed over it and been delighted by it.
Originating in China, tea was introduced to the British in the early 1600’s and quickly became a luxury product, with those who could afford it proudly showing off their tea caddy and brewing pots to guests…it was also reportedly the drink of choice for the English King Charles and his royal court following his marriage to a princess from the tea loving nation of Portugal.
As the price of importing tea from China increased, plantations were established in India, which remains to this day one of the four biggest tea producing countries along with Kenya and Sri Lanka.
- In fact, tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world, second only to water…which we think is pretty amazing for the leaves of the humble Camellia Sinensis plant!
Our passion for tea is matched by that of our European ancestors and we’re proud to offer a fabulous range of over 95 quality teas and tisanes to locals and visitors to Warrnambool or surrounding areas.
